Thanks for the question, Heath. The 5 oz and 20 oz are two different formulas. 

The 5 oz bottle (IC5 Fuel Injector Cleaner) is specifically formulated to clean fuel injectors only. It’s for gas engines only.

The 20 oz can (Sea Foam Truck & SUV or Pro Size) does a lot more: it cleans and lubricates the entire fuel system (including fuel injectors, chamber areas, and fuel passageways), stabilizes fuel, and can be used in oil. It can also be used in diesel fuel and oil.

Use Sea Foam Motor Treatment in diesel fuel or oil.

Hi Donna – you’ll want to drive until almost empty before filling up your gas tank. That way, you are getting as much of the treated fuel as possible through the injectors.

IC5 and Sea Foam Motor Treatment are safe to add at the same time.

That said, Sea Foam Motor Treatment does clean fuel injectors (along with a few other things). IC5 is specially formulated to only clean fuel injectors.

Because Motor Treatment will clean injectors, I’d add the Motor Treatment now and save the IC5 for later (maybe a couple months or 1,500 miles) just to space out the cleaning.

To get the most cleaning power out of Motor Treatment, add a full can to a low tank of fuel (1/8 tank or so) and then drive until almost empty before refueling. The high concentration will do a great job cleaning.

IC5 is made with safe ingredients that won’t harm engine parts. It’s safe for catalytic converters. In addition, IC5 is used up before it reaches the catalytic converter.
