HOW TO STORE A LAWNMOWER WITH SEA FOAM

TIPS FOR STORING LAWN MOWERS

As much wear and tear as your lawnmower goes through during the course of the season, the most common cause of failures is due to improper long-term storage.

If you have ever needed to give your lawn the first cut of the year and couldn’t get your mower started, you understand how important proper storage is.

In the middle of the season, you might encounter warning signs like rough running or hard starting. If not addressed, a mower with these problems might not start at all the next season, because of degraded fuel that leaves behind sticky deposits, blocking fuel passageways. This can happen in the fuel tank, filters, shutoff valves, and carburetor. Mower engine failures aren’t always fuel related though. Old, dirty engine oil can also break down and clog passages resulting in oil starvation, lifter issues, and accelerated wear of moving parts.

PREVENTING PROBLEMS
DURING STORAGE

The easiest solution to all of these STORAGE issues is adding Sea Foam Motor Treatment to both fuel and oil before winter storage.
This also goes along with regular oil changes as part of a complete preventive maintenance practice.

While prevention is the best way to keep your engine running best, you can still address mower fuel issues with Sea Foam Motor Treatment by draining the tank and adding two ounces (or more) per gallon of gasoline. Drain the old fuel, and add Motor Treatment to the fuel tank first to ensure it can work in its most concentrated form to break down the varnish clogging your carburetor. Once clean and running again, continue treating your fuel with Sea Foam Motor Treatment, one ounce per gallon of gasoline.
how to store A LAWN MOWER

three easy steps

stabilize tank fuel

Add at least 1 oz of Sea Foam per gallon in the tank. For best results, add a higher dosage of Sea Foam to a low tank of fuel to increase the cleaning ratio. Use up to a 3:1 ratio of fuel to Sea Foam.

Run the engine long enough for the treatment to work through the entire fuel system (about 5-10 minutes of idling).

From there, you can either store your mower with the fuel tank partially empty or full. Sea Foam will stabilize your fuel for up to two years.

fog/lubricate gasoline intakes

With the engine running, insert Sea Foam Spray straw (cut if needed) into intake throat (carburetor) or directly before throttle plate opening (fuel injection).

Spray a series of 3 to 5 bursts, then a final direct stream while shutting off the engine.

lubricate cylinders

After fogging the intake, allow engine to cool and remove spark plugs.

Insert Deep Creep (or Sea Foam Spray) straw, and spray each cylinder cavity.

Before re-inserting spark plugs, crank engine to rotate pistons.

How sea foam motor treatment protects your power equipment during storage

Fuel issues are the #1 cause of engine problems after seasonal storage.
All winter, Sea Foam will work to prevent gum and varnish formation. Fuel evaporation and the buildup of gum and varnish in carburetors and fuel lines can lead to problems like not starting, hard starting, or rough running.
Sea Foam Motor Treatment works to prevent the formation of harmful gum and varnish and adds protective lubricity to the entire fuel system during seasonal storage. Sea Foam also preserves ignition vapors and stabilizes fuel up to two years.
