Yes, you can leave Sea Foam in the oil for 6,000 miles. It’s safe to leave in there as long as you want, and it’s always working to clean and prevent residues and deposits. Just keep an eye on oil color and change the oil if it gets dirty.
That said, we recommend adding Sea Foam to oil 100-300 miles before your next oil change, especially if it’s the first time using it in oil. Sea Foam reliquefies varnish and deposits so they can be drained away with the old oil. If you add it to fresh oil: depending on how dirty your engine is, the Sea Foam may darken up the oil color quicker than usual (which is a sign that it’s cleaning!), so you may have to change the oil sooner than planned.
