Can I mix Ring Free gas additive and Sea Foam?[SOLVED]
I use Sea Foam at every boat fill up. The boat engine is a Yamaha 225 HP 2-cycle. I want to start using a Yamaha product called Ring Free gas additive. Wondering if there is any problem mixing the two products in the same gas tank. Or does Sea Foam do the same as the Ring Free product? Thank you.
Thank you for the question Paul. Because of Sea Foam’s petroleum ingredients, it’s usually safe to combine with most fuel tank additives. You can certainly run Sea Foam and Ring Free in the same fuel. However, we do not see a need for combining the two products on a regular basis – of course, whether you add both is up to you.
My 200 hp Yamaha is “making oil” about every 25-30 hours of run time. Will Sea Foam stop the fuel getting past the rings and into the oil?
Hi Hal. Sea Foam won’t help. As you’re likely aware, unburned/liquid gasoline in your Yamaha’s combustion chambers is leaking passed the compression rings and into the engine oil, diluting the oil and creating more fluid volume in the crankcase. Causes can be running rich (too much fuel/less air), bad thermostat, too much fuel pressure, over-propped (not running at high RPM). I’d seek help from a reputable Yamaha outboard shop!
