Does Sea Foam alter oil viscosity? [SOLVED]
1 Answers
I have a 2016 RAM 1500 with the 5.7L HEMI engine (which requires 5W-20 oil to operate the MDS system) and will be performing an oil change this weekend. I’ve started noticing some ticking, so I would like to add some Sea Foam to pre-clean any deposits in the crankcase and oil passages. Will adding the recommended ratio (1 oz of Sea Foam per quart of oil) to my motor change the oil viscosity and potentially damage the MDS and lifter components?

Great question, Joseph. No, Sea Foam will not alter the oil viscosity nor damage the MDS and lifter components. Add 1 oz of Sea Foam per quart of oil. You’ve got a good plan!
