How to keep valves clean on a turbo [SOLVED]
I’m looking to purchase a chevy 2022 silverado 2.7 liter turbo. Never had a turbo vehicle but have heard alot about carbon build up on the turbo and valves etc. I want to avoid that from ever happening. The motor has 51,000 miles on it. I won’t ever drive the truck hard or haul more than 500lbs. Where is the best place to add the seafoam for the carbon build up? And what it seafoam spray? Thanks in advance
Good question Michael! First, here’s a little background on Gasoline Direct Injection fuel systems…Keeping intake valves clean has never been more important once vehicles have started using Gasoline Direct Fuel Injection fuel systems. Now instead of spraying fuel across the intake valves, fuel is directly injected into the cylinders during the compression cycle of the engine. These systems offer a combination of improved fuel economy and better power. Unfortunately, these new systems there is no way for the intake valves to be cleaned without manually cleaning or with an induction clean, like Sea Foam Spray. Adding a fuel additive to the fuel tank will no longer clean intake valves with GDI style fuel systems.
That said, you’ll want to use Sea Foam Spray through the throttle body. That will deliver a 100% Sea Foam concentration directly to the intake valves, intake runners, throttle body, and combustion chamber area. It’s a great way to clean.
Sea Foam Motor Treatment and Sea Foam Spray are the same product, packaged differently. Sea Foam Spray is packaged in a 12-ounce aerosol can for using in gasoline air intake cleaning applications.
Hope that helps and let me know if there’s anything else!
