Is it better to add Sea Foam to the oil and run it without load or on the highway? [SOLVED]
Can I add a whole can of Sea Foam prior to an oil change and then change it without issue? Would it be better to add it and leave the vehicle running without load for 15-20 min or is it ok to add it and then drive a few miles then change it? Thank you!
Good question, Paul. First off, add 1 oz of Sea Foam per quart of oil in your crankcase. Most cars and trucks have a capacity between 5-8 quarts, so I’m guessing that a full can would be too much. Do not add more than 1 oz per quart of oil.
Second, I’d recommend adding it 100-300 miles before your next oil change. You can drive it normally during that time. That gives the Sea Foam enough time to circulate and clean. It also lets you drain away all the reliquefied crud (residues and deposits) when you change your oil.
Hope that helps and let me know if there’s anything else!
