Sea Foam before oil change [SOLVED]
Can I add Sea Foam to the oil crankcase before my 5000k oil change?
Yes – before an oil change is a great time to add Sea Foam since all the deposits and residues can be drained away with the old oil. (Sea Foam safely reliquefies residues and deposits in the crankcase).
After you add it, be sure to drive around 100-300 miles before you change your oil. That way the Sea Foam has time to circulate and work.
Can I add Seafoam Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner to the oil crankcase before my oil change? I only ask because I have a few bottles laying around but no regular Seafoam in the garage. I have a 2011 sedan with a 4.6L V8 that holds 7 quarts. I am assuming it would be okay to one bottle of concentrate, but thought I’d just check.
Hey Rob,
Good question! The Injector Cleaner can NOT be added to oil. It’s a different formula than Sea Foam Motor Treatment (regular Sea Foam). Injector Cleaner is for the fuel tank of gas engines only.
We get asked about the differences between those products a lot. As you probably know, regular Sea Foam (Motor Treatment) works great in both fuel and oil. Thanks for the question and hope that helps!
