Sea Foam for Suzuki DRZ400S with poor idle [SOLVED]
1 Answers
I have a Suzuki DRZ400S that has not had much use for about 3 years. It does run good but idle changes up from time to time. I have a almost 4 gallon tank. How can I add Sea Foam, or should I try something else?

Good question, Kevin.
If your Suzuki is idling poorly because of fuel residues/varnish (which is a very common cause of problems in an engine that has been sitting), Sea Foam will help clean it up and get it running better. Here’s what I’d do:
- Run it down to 1-2 gallons of gas.
- add a full 16oz can of Sea Foam High Mileage to the fuel tank.
- with Sea Foam mixed in the tank fuel, crank a few times to draw the fresh fuel and Sea Foam into the carburetor
- then let the engine sit overnight to allow the Sea Foam to dissolve any fuel residues from the carburetor (older or excessive gum/varnish may need to soak two to three days)
- ride it until almost empty before refueling with fresh fuel.
If you’d like, you can add 1 oz of Sea Foam High Mileage or Motor Treatment per gallon of fuel to every tank going forward. That will clean and prevent any fuel residues and varnish from forming and help prevent related poor engine performance.
