HOW TO USE SEA FOAM FOR ENGINE STORAGE AND STABILIZING FUEL
BENEFITS
DIRECTIONS
SUMMARY
Sea Foam Motor Treatment works to stabilize stored fuel up to 2 years. Adding Sea Foam to stored tanks helps fuel resist evaporation, preserves ignition vapors, adds protective lubricity, and prevents the formation of gum and varnish in fuel systems. Gum and varnish residues are the most common cause of poor engine function. Using Sea Foam in stored fuel will help your engines start easier and last longer.

Can you mix Sea Foam and Stabil in gas for a mower?
Thanks for the question! Yes, you can mix Stabil and Sea Foam in gas for a lawn mower. The two won’t interfere with each other or cause problems. Just follow the directions on the can.
Can I add seafoam to the fuel tank of my Winnebago Solis to clean the generator that runs off the same fuel tank?
Good question. The best way to clean an RV generator that runs off the same fuel tank is to get a small gas can and fuel line and hook up the generator to that. You can add a high concentration of Sea Foam to that small can and run it through the generator. That will be much easier and faster to manage the treatment ratio and overall cleaning results

Can I use Sea Foam in a drive lawn mower gasoline ? How do I use it?
Hi Dune,
Thanks for the question. Yes, you can use Sea Foam in your lawn mower gasoline. It’ll do three things:
- Clean fuel residue and varnish from the entire fuel system (anywhere fuel goes)
- Lubricate critical engine areas
- Prevent fuel from degrading and any gum and varnish from forming
If you haven’t used it before, here’s what I’d do to give your lawn mower’s fuel system a good cleaning:
- Add a 16oz can of Sea Foam Motor Treatment to half a gallon of fuel
- Run it on the high concentration until it’s empty. That will do a good job cleaning up any fuel residues/varnish.
After that, add at least one ounce of Sea Foam per gallon to every tank of fuel. That will prevent the fuel from degrading, as well as prevent fuel residues form forming while the mower sits between uses.
Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions!
Can I use Sea Foam in my Packard 8 1936 1400 120?
Thanks for the question, Richard! Yes, you can use Sea Foam in your Packard. It’s made with petroleum ingredients that won’t harm anything and work well to clean fuel residues and varnish.
Here are a few recommendations on how to use it:
- Sea Foam Motor Treatment in fuel. I like to wait until the tank is low (2-4 gallons), add the whole 16 oz can, and then drive for at least 10-20 miles before refueling. It’s safe to add a high concentration like that and it works very well for cleaning fuel residues and deposits.
- Sea Foam Motor Treatment in oil. Add 1 ounce of Sea Foam per quart of oil in the crankcase. We recommend adding it 100-300 miles before your next oil change. That gives the Sea Foam enough time to circulate and clean, and it allows all the reliquefied oil residues to be drained away with the old oil.
If it’s sitting for any length of time, you can add Sea Foam to every tank to prevent the fuel from degrading and gum and varnish from forming while it’s in storage.
Do I really have to wait until the gas tank only has 2 gallons left in the tank before adding Sea Foam?
Thanks for the question!
You don’t have to wait until your tank is that low, but it’s the most effective way to get a strong cleaning concentration. When there are only a couple gallons of fuel in the tank, adding a full can of Sea Foam creates a higher ratio of treatment to fuel, so it will clean faster and better than if you were to add a can to a larger volume of fuel.
That said, you can add Sea Foam to a full tank at any time—it will still work to clean and lubricate, just at a lower concentration. Many people add a full can to a full tank as part of regular  preventative maintenance.
So the short answer: use it whenever it’s convenient, but adding it when the tank is low gives the strongest cleaning results.
