HOW TO USE MARINE PRO FUEL TREATMENT
IN BOAT ENGINE FUEL

SUMMARY
Add Marine PRO to every tank of fuel to help your marine engine start faster, run smoother, and last longer. It works through fuel injectors and carburetors to safely remove harmful engine residues and deposits from fuel passageways, intake valves, pistons and chamber areas.
Marine PRO is safe and effective in all 2- and 4-stroke gasoline marine engines, inboard and outboard. Marine PRO only contains petroleum-based cleaning and lubricating ingredients. It does NOT contain harsh chemicals or abrasive detergents that could harm your engine. Marine PRO does not contain alcohol.

RELATED QUESTIONS
I have a 2005 25 hp Mercury. I put 4 gallons in the tank. Is it OK to put more Marine PRO in before I start fishing to help clean the motor?
Thanks for the question, David!
Yes, you can absolutely put Marine PRO in 4 gallons of fuel. Add the whole 20oz can and run it until almost empty before refueling. That concentration will do a great job cleaning up the fuel system (for cleaning, it works better to use a high concentration like that…)
Hope that helps and let me know if there’s anything else!
The fuel in my boat had stabilizer put in it (not Sea Foam) almost two years ago. Will adding Sea Foam Marine Pro before running the engine help with startup and cleaning the engine fuel system after sitting for that long (even though it had fuel stabilizer in it)? What quantity of Sea Foam Marine Pro is recommended (about 20 gal. tank)?
Hi Don,
Thanks for the question!
If the fuel is only two years old, it should start and run fine. You should still have enough volatility in the fuel to start it up.
If it does start, run it down to a low amount of fuel (2-4 gallons or less if possible) and add a full 20 oz can of Marine PRO. Then, run it until just about empty to let the treated fuel get through the system. The high concentration will do a great job cleaning.
If it doesn’t start, drain as much of the fuel as possible and add 2-3 gallons of fresh fuel and follow the directions above (full can of Marine PRO, run it until empty).
Hope that helps!
Can I use Sea Foam Motor Treatment instead of oil in 2-stroke fuel?
I have been using Sea Foam as a stabilizer and cleaner in the fuel on my older (1980s) 40 horse Force outboard motor. I have also been mixing with the appropriate (50:1) amount of oil. When I was reading the can of Sea Foam, it says, “For 2-stroke pre-mix add 2 ounces per gallon.” Does this mean that Sea Foam can be used as the only additive in the fuel for my outboard? Or is it recommended to use a normal oil at the recommended 50:1 and use Sea Foam in addition to this for cleaning and stabilization?
Good question, Paul, and thanks for the note!
Sea Foam is not a replacement for oil in 2-stroke fuel. Use a normal oil at the recommended ratio, and add Sea Foam in addition for cleaning and stabilization. Keep doing what you’ve been doing in your outboard.
Perhaps “In 2-stroke pre-mix” would be a better way to word it on the can. Thanks for the question!
I’d like to add Sea Foam to my Yamaha Waverunner’s oil as well as the gas. Are there any limitations to use it on this type of marine craft ?
Thanks for the question, Mike. Sea Foam Motor Treatment is safe and effective in your Waverunner’s oil and gas. Marine PRO would work great for both as well.
I’ll answer in general in case others with PWC’s have a similar question:
In a 4-stroke: Add 1 ounce of Sea Foam per quart of oil. Then, run it for at least one hour, and change the oil. That gives the Sea Foam enough time to circulate and clean.
In an older oil-injected 2-stroke, add the Sea Foam at any time.
Hope this helps!
Should you add Sea Foam to outboard oil crank case like you would in your vehicle?
Yes, Sea Foam Motor Treatment (or Marine PRO) would work great in an outboard’s oil crankcase. It will clean and prevent oil residues and deposits from accumulating.
In a 4-stroke outboard: Add 1 ounce of Sea Foam per quart of oil in your outboard’s crankcase. Then, run it for at least one hour, and change the oil. That gives the Sea Foam enough time to circulate and clean.
In an oil-injected 2-stroke, add the Sea Foam at any time.
Hope this helps!
