Adding Sea Foam to 2-stroke pre-mix fuel [SOLVED]
Hi Sea Foam
For a pre-mix 2-stroke engine, is it best to add Sea Foam after you mix your gas to oil ratio? I also noticed that the instructions show to add 1 once to every gallon for maintenance, but also shows to add 2 ounces of Sea Foam for pre-mix 2-stroke engines. Why is the ratio more for 2-strokes?
Thanks!
Hey Lance. You can add Sea Foam to fuel before or after the 2-stroke oil has been mixed. We also recommend two ounces per gallon for pre-mix 2-stroke fuel to help with minimizing oil residues that form in carburetors and chamber areas.
Recommend adding Sea Foam to every tank of fuel, especially if the engine is not run very often. That will help keep the engine clean and prevent problems.
What if I have already added a fuel stabilizer to my 18 gallon tank of oil and gas?
Hi James – you can safely add Sea Foam to fuel that already has a stabilizer in it. It won’t cause any trouble and it will work great to clean and lubricate. Sea Foam is also a great stabilizer. Add at least 2 oz per gallon of fuel. Hope that helps!
Can you add too much? There is already some gas in the tank, but I’m not sure how much. I’m about to add 5 more gallons of gas.
You can safely add a lot of Sea Foam to gas (even gas-oil mix). In fact, the more Sea Foam you add to fuel, the better it cleans (though we recommend no more than a 1:2 ratio of Sea Foam to fuel…which is a lot!). For routine maintenance, 1-2 ounces per gallon is fine. But feel free to add more than that, and don’t worry if you add more than what’s stated on the bottle for standard usage.
