Adding Sea Foam to oil for my 2004 Ram 1500 4.7L [SOLVED]
Asked by Chris B. In South Carolina
I have a 2004 Ram 1500 4.7L with 133,000 miles. It has developed the “Dodge tick” at startup. My mechanic (retired Dodge guy) suggested I add a whole can of Sea Foam to my oil and drive the truck for 100 miles then change the oil. Is that sound advice?
By the way, I just found this site and am enjoying reading about your products and usage advice!
Thanks for the question and very glad you like the website, Chris. That is great advice from your mechanic! The only suggestion I’ll add is to use half a can in your 4.7L oil, not a whole can. You could also drive more miles if needed and make sure you add half a can every interval. Another product that would work great in your Ram’s oil is Sea Foam High Mileage.
