Adding Sea Foam in oil to fix lifter noise [SOLVED]
I have 2007 Chevy Silverado with 226,344 miles. Its got a bad lifter noise and has hardly no power. If I just changed the oil, is it safe to run 5~6 ounces of seafoam till my next oil change? What do you recommend?
Hi Ricky. For quieting the lifter noise, keep adding half a can of Sea Foam or High Mileage to your oil every interval, and it’s perfectly fine to add right after adding new oil. Sea Foam in oil will work to liquefy the sticky varnish residue that gums-up the lifter mechanism spring, preventing the check ball to seat properly. Easy fix, though may require two or three oil intervals.
