Can I mix Sea Foam Motor Treatment and IC5 Fuel Injector Cleaner in the gas tank of my Chevy Silverado? [SOLVED]
I put a 16 ounce can of Sea Foam and also put and also put in Sea Foam Injector Cleaner in 13 gallons of gas in my 2004 Chevy Silverado 5.3 and that filled my tank half full for my truck. I drove it 30 miles. Will that harm my engine doing that? Thank you. My engine is a 5.3 liter in my truck.
Hey Jacob,
Thanks for the question! It’s absolutely safe to add both Sea Foam Motor Treatment and IC5 Fuel Injector Cleaner to your gas tank at the same time. It won’t harm anything. I’d drive the truck normally until it’s almost empty before refueling.
Tip: I like to add a full 16oz can of Sea Foam to a low tank of gas (2-4 gallons) and then drive until almost empty before filling up the tank again. That allows the strong cleaning concentration time to work through the fuel system.
I have an old 5.7 Vortec with a rough idle. I suspect that the previous owner used gas with ethanol additive before parking the vehicle. Will Seafoam Injector Cleaner help dissolve any build up left by the ethanol blend fuel?
Hey Scott – good question! I’d use High Mileage Motor Treatment. That will do a great job cleaning the entire fuel system, including the injectors (whereas the IC5 Injector Cleaner is made just for injectors).
Add a full 16oz can of High Mileage to a low tank of gas (2-4 gallons) and then drive until almost empty before filling up the tank again. The high concentration will work to clean any residues or deposits.
