Can I use Sea Foam as a lead substitute? [SOLVED]
1 Answers
I use Sea Foam at 1 ounce per gallon with every fill in a 1951 Jowett Jupiter to clean and lubricate the engine instead of using a lead substitute. Am I using the product correctly?

Hi Neil,
Thanks for the question!
Yes, you’re using Sea Foam correctly. 1 ounce per gallon is a great maintenance dose and will help keep the fuel system clean and prevent gum and varnish from forming.
As for replacing a lead substitute, Sea Foam is not a lead substitute, so I wouldn’t recommend using it specifically for that purpose.
I’d also recommend giving it a stronger cleaning treatment once in a while. Wait until the tank is low, add a full can of Sea Foam, and drive it until almost empty before refueling. The higher concentration works much better and faster to clean fuel residues and deposits.
