Cleaning a scooter carburetor with Sea Foam [SOLVED]
I suspect my scooter has a dirty carburetor and/or other fuel delivery system related issues. I’ve had it for a few months, but prior to that it sat for a number of years and now is having trouble starting sometimes. It is getting good voltage and spark and it runs pretty good once it starts. What would be the best course of treatment for cleaning the carburetor and fuel system on a 150 cc scooter to achieve lasting results?
It’s a 2009 Piaggio Fly 150 w/ 2,100 miles.
Hi Paul. The first thing I might do is look at or replace inline fuel filter. As far as cleaning the carburetor circuits, add higher cleaning concentrations of Sea Foam to the fuel and operate as normal. Because it’s a small tank, one part Sea Foam to 3 parts gasoline would be a good ratio until the engine starts running better. From there can go one or two ounces per gallon every tank fill. Hope this makes sense!
