Does Sea Foam clean fuel injectors and lean fuel mixture? [SOLVED]
I have a 2008 Mazda 3 with the engine light on and codes pointing to lean mixture. I’ve already replaced O2 sensor at the dealership and will clean MAF next. The dealership said the fuel injectors can’t be cleaned more than once. I don’t believe them. Will your product clean the fuel injectors and also assist with the lean issue?
Good question, Karen.
Yes, Sea Foam Motor Treatment (or better, High Mileage Motor Treatment) in a high concentration in the fuel tank will clean, lubricate, and protect the fuel injectors.
Wait until you have a low tank of fuel (1/4 tank or so), add 5-6 ounces of Sea Foam per gallon of gasoline, and drive for 20-30 minutes before refilling the fuel tank. In addition, you can use Sea Foam Spray directly through the throttle body to clean the back side of the intake valves and the combustion chamber areas (instructions and videos here: https://seafoamworks.com/sea-foam-spray-intake-valve-top-engine-cleaner/.
Between both treatments, Sea Foam will clean your fuel system and upper engine areas which should lower your NOx(Nitrogen Oxides) which are formed when fuel is burned at a higher temperature than normal, typically caused by carbon in the combustion chamber area.
Hi Vanessa,
Sea Foam Motor Treatment won’t clean O2 sensors. However, try what’s described in Jim’s answer. Worth a shot. Also, here is a good article on O2 sensors that may be helpful. https://seafoamworks.com/shop-talk/avoiding-a-faulty-o2-sensor/
