Does Sea Foam have a shelf life after opening the can? [SOLVED]
Once opened is their a shelf life?
Hi Frederick. An opened can that is capped tight will last a few years. Even so, it does its best work when used in fuel and oil systems. Use it up!
I just threw out some Sta-bil because the bottle says not more than two years after opening. “Use it up” is not helpful for a snowblower used only 3-4 times/yr. Is there any more precise answer for Sea Foam than “a few years”?
Hi Steve – if the cap is on tight, I wouldn’t hesitate to use it if 10 years or younger (or even much older than that. It doesn’t really have a shelf life).
If you want to use up some Sea Foam at the end of the snowblower season, add the rest of the can to your car or truck’s gas tank. It works best to add a full can to a low tank (1/4 or less), but adding whatever you have left to a low tank of fuel (1/8 or less) and then driving until almost empty before refueling is a great way to get it out of the garage.
