Does Sea Foam Motor Treatment work to prevent fuel tank rust? [SOLVED]
After running my Honda EG2800i generator during the recent cold weather am preparing to put it back in storage. I drained the fuel out of the carb, drained the gas tank, then changed the oil and air filter.
Now I have about 3/4 of a can of Sea Foam left. Would it be a good idea to pour a little straight Sea Foam into an empty metal generator gas tank? I am worried about the tank rusting while it sits, and it could be a long time before I need to run it again.
So if I didn’t use the generator for 3 to 5 years, would adding some straight Sea Foam be a good or bad idea?
That’s a great question William. Sea Foam is made from 100% petroleum cleaning and lubricating oils that work great to protect metal from rust. It is also very resistant to evaporation. The answer is an easy yes!
