Hi Padraig – good question! If the lifter noise is caused by sticky oil residue (which is commonly the case), Sea Foam in the oil will help to overcome the noisy lifter problem. Sometimes it goes away quickly, but most of the time it requires 2-3 oil intervals with Sea Foam in the oil. Keep adding Sea Foam Motor Treatment (or High Mileage) each time you change your oil and it will progressively clean away all the old oil residue. Just don’t exceed one Sea Foam treatment per interval.

Hope that helps!
