Good question, John. For cleaning, we recommend adding at least 2 oz of Sea Foam per gallon of fuel in the tank.

If you’re adding it to every tank of fuel for routine maintenance, add 1 oz per gallon.

What I’d do: 

The best way to use Sea Foam for cleaning is to add a high concentration to a low amount of fuel. Here’s what I’d do: add an entire can to about 2 gallons of fuel, and then drive it until almost empty before refueling. That concentration works very well to clean an engine. Sea Foam is made with 100% safe petroleum cleaning and lubricating ingredients, so it’s okay to add at that concentration (and it does a great job cleaning!).

After that, add 1 oz of Sea Foam per gallon of fuel to every tank, or repeat the high concentration method once or twice a year.
