Thanks for the question, Wendy. If the lifter tick is caused by oil residues, Sea Foam can help clean it up. I’d recommend High Mileage. Here’s an article with more info:
Sometime the lifter noise goes away quickly, but most of the time it requires regular treatments (every oil interval). The big benefit to every interval is to progressively clean away all the old oil residue that builds up as engines add miles. Add 1 oz of High Mileage per quart of oil in the crankcase 300 miles before you change your oil. Do that before every oil change. (Note: never exceed 1 oz of High Mileage per quart of oil).
