Sea Foam for a 1994 Caterpillar 3208TA marine engine [SOLVED]
Hi. I have a 1994 Caterpillar 3208TA marine engine. The engine oil was not changed for many years and was very contaminated. I changed the oil several time along with the oil filters. The oil is now clear but would it help the engine to add Sea Foam to enhance the cleaning and lubrication of the engine? The engine takes 16 quarts of oil so how much Sea Foam would you recommend to be added to the crank case? Thanks!
Hi Russell. Adding Sea Foam or High Mileage to your Cat engine’s oil will work to reliquefy heavier oil formations back into the fluid oil so all the harmful residue can drain away when you change the oil. For your engine, add one 16 ounce can, so one ounce per quart of oil in the crankcase. Adding a can every oil interval will go a long way toward keeping the crankcase clean and improving oil flow! Easy to do!
