Sea Foam in a 2014 Cruze with lifter noise? [SOLVED]
Is it safe to put Sea Foam Motor Treatment in my 2014 1.4 turbo Cruze LT? I’ve had lifter noise for some time now, and it could be a collapsed lifter. Some say Sea Foam will ruin all the seals and others say there are no issues. I have no oil leaks at moment and would rather not have any from using this product. Car has 111,000 miles on it. If so, which product should I use?
Thanks for the question, Michael.
First off, it is safe to add Sea Foam Motor Treatment to your Cruze’s oil. Sea Foam is made with 100% safe petroleum ingredients that actually nourish seals. Here’s a quick video with more info about Sea Foam and seals: https://seafoamworks.com/shop-talk/sea-foam-official-video-sea-foam-and-engine-seals/
If the lifter noise is caused by sticky oil residue (which is commonly the case), Sea Foam in the oil will help to overcome the noisy lifter problem. Sometimes it goes away quickly, but most of the time it requires 2-3 oil intervals with Sea Foam in the oil. I’d use High Mileage because it’s a great cleaner. Add 1 oz per quart of oil at least 300 miles before you change it.</p>
