Sea Foam Spray in Ford Fusion Hybrid SE 2013 [SOLVED]
I have a Ford Fusion 2013 hybrid SE. I want to use Sea Foam Spray. How do I do it? I have seen the video, and it looks easy in a regular gasoline engine. Please suggest a video for a hybrid engine.
Thanks for the question, Ahmad.
There is an engine running diagnostic mode that commands the engine on and the engine will not shut off until you shut the vehicle off. The procedure is simple:
Start with the ignition off.
1. Apply the parking brake
2. Keep gear shift in park position
3. Turn the ignition to the ON position with engine OFF
4. Within 5 seconds of ignition on, fully apply the accelerator pedal and hold for ten seconds
5. Within 5 seconds release the accelerator pedal and shift the transmission to drive (remember the engine should be off)
6. Hold the accelerator pedal fully applied for 10 seconds
7. Release the accelerator pedal and shift transmission to park
8. Start engine
If the above were followed properly, the powertrain malfunction indicator wrench will flash once per second and the system will resume normal operation if the gear selector is taken out of park or ignition off.
Once the engine is placed in diagnostic mode, a Sea Foam Spray Treatment can be performed on the vehicle. The process is quite simple and can be performed with limited hand tools and a basic understanding of automotive knowledge.
The basic process is with the engine at operating temperature, increase engine speed to 1,500-2,000 RPM and introduce an entire can of Sea Foam Spray directly through the throttle body with the hook guide and straw. Once the can is almost depleted, reduce RPM back to idle and allow Sea Foam Spray to “choke out” the engine or shut the engine off while Sea Foam Spray is still spraying, leave the engine off for 10-15 minutes to allow Sea Foam Spray to “hot soak” on all the internal engine components. After hot soak time, start the engine and drive with spirited acceleration for 20-25 minutes.
Here’s the general Sea Foam Spray instruction video that covers the basic process I talked about – easy to follow, step by step video on YouTube:
