Sea Foam to quiet a tapping lifter [SOLVED]

Lifter noise is caused by sticky varnish that develops from old oil residue that builds up in the crankcase over time. Sea Foam (or High Mileage for older engines) added to oil will work to reliquefy and clean away the varnish that’s causing the noise. Sometimes the lifter noise goes away quickly, but most of the time it requires regular treatments. I’d add it to every oil interval. The big benefit to treating every interval is to progressively clean away all the old oil residue that builds up as engines add miles.

Add 1 oz of Sea Foam per quart of oil. You can add it at any time, but we recommend adding it 100-300 miles before your next oil change. That way the old oil residue cleaned by the Sea Foam can be drained away with the oil when you change it. It might take a few oil change cycles, but the Sea Foam will progressively clean things up.
