What happens if you add too much Sea Foam to crankcase? [SOLVED]
The recommended amount to crankcase is 1 ounce per quart in the engine…what happens if you add too much, and approximately how hazardous is it to the motor?
If you accidently add more than 1 ounce of Sea Foam Motor Treatment per quart of engine oil, we recommend driving no more than 50 miles and changing the engine oil and filter. Sea Foam is 100% petroleum based and contains no harsh chemicals or cleaners. Sea Foam will not effect engine oil viscosity. However, Sea Foam is not a replacement for engine oil.
Hi Jeff – no, you do not need to change your filters. Sea Foam Motor Treatment is made with petroleum cleaning and lubricating ingredients, so there’s no harm in adding a bunch to your gas. In fact, the more you add to fuel, the better and quicker it cleans. I like to add a full can to a low tank of fuel (2-3 gallons).
