What Sea Foam product should I put in the gas of a 2004 Dodge Dakota that’s been sitting? [SOLVED]
I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota that has been sitting for 2 years and tank is half full of gas. What to put in tank to drive to the shop approximately 5 miles?
Thanks for the question! If the fuel is two years old, it should still start and run fine enough to get you to the shop.
After you get it back from the shop, your goal will be to clean the fuel system. I’d wait until the tank is low (1/8 tank or so), add a whole 16 oz can of Sea Foam High Mileage, and then drive it until almost empty (20 miles minimum ideally, or as far as you’re comfortable driving on a low tank. After that, refill with fresh fuel. If you want, you can repeat that same treatment when the tank gets down to 1/8 tank again. That will clean out fuel residues and deposits that formed when the truck was sitting.
If you want to be extra cautious, you could drain the old gas out of the fuel tank, add 1/8 tank of fresh gas, and then add the High Mileage and drive it until almost empty.
Hope that helps and let me know if there’s anything else!
