Will Marine PRO help clean a boat engine that’s been sitting for two years with fuel stabilizer in it? [SOLVED]
The fuel in my boat had stabilizer put in it (not Sea Foam) almost two years ago. Will adding Sea Foam Marine Pro before running the engine help with startup and cleaning the engine fuel system after sitting for that long (even though it had fuel stabilizer in it)? What quantity of Sea Foam Marine Pro is recommended (about 20 gal. tank)?
Hi Don,
Thanks for the question!
If the fuel is only two years old, it should start and run fine. You should still have enough volatility in the fuel to start it up.
If it does start, run it down to a low amount of fuel (2-4 gallons or less if possible) and add a full 20 oz can of Marine PRO. Then, run it until just about empty to let the treated fuel get through the system. The high concentration will do a great job cleaning.
If it doesn’t start, drain as much of the fuel as possible and add 2-3 gallons of fresh fuel and follow the directions above (full can of Marine PRO, run it until empty).
Hope that helps!
