Will Sea Foam High Mileage work to stabilize fuel? [SOLVED]
The regular Sea Foam indicates it includes a gasoline preservative stabilizer which works for two years. I bought the Sea Foam High Mileage but don’t see any such statement on the container. Does the High Mileage contain a stabilizer that protects for 2 years?
That is a great question Gerald. The answer is yes, High Mileage will work excellent to stabilize stored fuel.
Will Sea Foam High Mileage stabilze gas in the gastank of an infrequently driven (less than once per month) 2003 Lexus ES 300 that has over 200,000 miles on it? If so, what is the optimal amount to add? 1 oz per gallon? or would more be better? Is it best to keep the gas tank almost full in a car that sits without being driven most of the time – or does that matter?
Yes, High Mileage will help. 1 oz per gallon of fuel is good for storage. Once or twice a year, add a full can (16 oz) to a low tank of fuel (2-3 gallons) for a cleaning dosage.
There are differing opinions about whether to keep the gas tank full or not. I’d favor keeping a lower tank so you are replenishing it with fresh fuel more often. Adding small amounts of fuel more often will help make sure you’re using fresh fuel as frequently as possible.
Hope that helps!
