Can I run Sea Foam in my oil for 3k miles? [SOLVED]
If I run Sea Foam Motor Treatment in oil for 3k miles could it cause harm? Or should I change the oil once I reach 300 miles?
Hi Mike,
You can safely leave Sea Foam Motor Treatment or Sea Foam High Mileage in there for the life of the oil. It won’t cause any harm.
Here’s the only reason we recommend adding it close to an oil change: Sea Foam reliquefies residues so they can be drained away with the old oil. In an older vehicle, Sea Foam will often cause new oil to become “dirty”/darker much sooner than it would otherwise (which is good, because that means the Sea Foam is cleaning!).
Adding Sea Foam 100-300 miles before your oil change gives the Sea Foam enough time to circulate and clean. You can then drain all the residue away when you change your oil.
Bottom line: it’s up to you. Safe either way.
