Cleaning sludge from oil crankcase of an old engine [SOLVED]
Asked by Jeff A. In Texas
How long does Sea Foam Motor Treatment in the crankcase of a 60-year-old motor take to remove the engine sludge? I added it according your instructions. Currently changing oil and filter every gas tank. Vehicle was not started for 30 years. Running now but angry.
If you keep adding Sea Foam to each oil interval, the Sea Foam will progressively clean things up. The crankcase will never be “perfectly” clean, but the Sea Foam will help. It may take a while depending on what the crankcase looks like. I’d keep adding it to each oil interval – the Sea Foam will make it a little cleaner with each oil interval.
On a different topic, you could also try adding a can or two of Sea Foam High Mileage to a low tank of fuel and drive it until almost empty, and/or a Sea Foam Spray treatment through the carb. There may be many things contributing to it running “angry,” but the Sea Foam in the gas tank will clean things up and might help, for what it’s worth.

Hope that helps!
