Generator exhaust smoke – what causes? [SOLVED]
1 Answers
I put a 1/4 can of seafoam in my new Champion generator this winter for storage. When I started it the other day there is some smoke coming out of the exhaust, is this just the gas/Sea Foam mixture burning? Generator has less than 30 hours on it.

Hi Andy. I don’t think what you’re seeing is Sea Foam unless you had a very high concentration in fuel, which would emit visible oil vapor (Sea Foam is oil). My hunch is that you’re seeing water condensation or old fuel that has lost some of its volatility. For what it’s worth, what you’re seeing is normal for any engine that sits for more than a few weeks. Hope this helps!
