How much Seafoam max can I add safely to my engine oil(5qt) to clean the inside of the engine due to sludge and carbon buildup inside the engine timing components? Also how long should I run the seafoam in the engine oil before draining the old oil and seafoam out?

Thanks for the question, Allan!
For a 5-quart oil capacity, use 5 ounces of Sea Foam Motor Treatment. Use 1 ounce per quart of oil and do not exceed that ratio.
Here’s what I’d do:
- Add 5 ounces of Sea Foam to the crankcase.
- Drive normally for 100–300 miles before your next oil change.
- Then change the oil and filter. The Sea Foam works to reliquefy old oil residues and deposits so they can drain away with the old oil.
For sludge and oil residue buildup, it’s better to repeat the treatment over several oil-change intervals. Do not exceed 1 ounce of Sea Foam per quart of oil. Cleaning gradually gives the reliquefied deposits a chance to drain away with each oil change.
