How to reduce smoke and clean the engine of a Ford Tractor [SOLVED]
I have an old Ford tractor with a gas engine that smokes a lot at startup and shutoff. Do you have a product that will help clear things up and not smoke me out when I’m running the tractor?
Thanks for the question Rod. Depending on the tractor engine’s wear and tear life, the smoke can be any combination of restricted oil control rings, worn rings, worn valve guides/bad seals. Try adding Sea Foam to the crankcase at 1.5 ounces per quart of oil. It will help clean the control rings if they are sticking or obstructed. You can also remove the plugs and add a few healthy bursts of Sea Foam Spray into each chamber, then let things sit for at least 3 days for the Sea Foam Spray to soak around the tops of the piston rings. Definitely worth a try!
