I am getting a brand new vehicle with a direct injection fuel system. How soon in miles should I start adding Sea Foam to keep the system clean? What should be the mileage or time interval to add Sea Foam again? Can you add too much to brand new clean system?
Hi Ed. Here’s a video that covers all of your questions: Buying a GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) car or truck – what to do about the intake valves
Note that adding a fuel treatment (like Sea Foam) to your fuel tank will NOT clean GDI intake valves. You can only clean GDI intake valves by application through the throttle body (air intake) by using a specialized intake/upper engine cleaner like Sea Foam Spray. It’s also never too early to start using Sea Foam or Sea Foam Spray – same as why we brush your teeth. Hope this helps!
