How often should I use Sea Foam Motor Treatment in my GMC z71? [SOLVED]
Asked by Jeremy T. In Arkansas
I have a 2013 GMC z71 with approx 60,000 miles on it. I noticed the can said use 1 ounce per gallon or 2 or more ounces when cleaning. Should I put 2 cans of it in my gas tank when I fill up my gas tank? Or can I add when the tank runs low and drive some more before filling the tank? What’s the best way and how much do I put in it? Thank you.
That’s a great description Joshua! Your idea to add 2 cans when the tank is low and drive will work best as a cleaning concentration (for injectors in particular). Think of it this way: You add a greater cleaning concentration, drive for 20 to 50 miles so the concentration is working through your fuel system and upper engine… Then after you’re filled up (or do a partial fill to help max the concentration), there’s still plenty of Sea Foam in your tank that will continue to work for the 400+ miles of fuel you’d travel from your full tank! [My estimate on the 400 mile distance would be 24 gallons multiplied by 18 MPG.]
