How to clean a motorcycle carburetor with Sea Foam Motor Treatment [SOLVED]
I am just wondering about your motor treatment product on a motorcycle. Does the engine have to be running while using the product to clean the carburetors? Or can I pour it into the carburetors and leave overnight without running the engine?
Hi Niall. The only way to clean a carburetor(s) without removal of parts is to add Sea Foam (a gum & varnish cleaner) to the fuel. [Pouring into a carburetor throat does not go into the carburetor.]
Try this: With a low tank of fuel, add a half or full can to the tank…start and idle the engine for 5 to 8 minutes to draw the concentrated Sea Foam mixture through the carburetor circuits…shut off and let sit overnight (or 2 to 3 days is better). When ready to run again, add one gallon of fresh gas…start it up, let it idle for 5 minutes, then operate. Most of the Sea Foam you put in the fuel will still be in the tank and will continue to clean the carburetor(s) and upper engine as you run the motorcycle. Piece of cake!
